As paranoia about spreading germs, disease and other generally gross things reaches an all time high some brainiac has come up with a way of turning this haven of grime into a brand spanking new marketing opportunity.
Glowfungi also known as DiscoFungi, is a new advertising format that uses glow-in-the-dark bacteria. The harmless bacteria's glow is a natural reaction, requiring no chemicals, and can last up to a week. To create a glowing piece of advertising bio-luminescent bacteria is added to petri-dishes, a bed of mushrooms, or a writeable gel that can be applied directly to any surface, indoors or out.
There's also this very interesting article in The Times about how bacteria, carbon dioxide and more will be incorporated into tomorrow's architecture in order to make buildings operate more efficiently.
